Netscape 4.5 does not display PNG or JPEG images over 4,096 pixels wide.
I am doing my Masters thesis on the efficient storage and transmission of electrocardiographic data. Part of this is generating ECG images. (Like the paper strip generated by an ECG machine.) Unsurprisingly, some of these images can be quite wide (>8,399 pixels).
When I try to display these images in Netscape, I get the broken image icon if the image is more than 4,096 pixels wide. The images themselves are valid, Netscape just does not display them properly. An example of this behavior can be found here.
What makes this particularly disappointing is that MS Internet Explorer *does* display these images properly. I don't want to use this awful MS product but I am forced to because Netscape does not implement PNG or JPEG images properly. Please fix this bug so I can go back to using Netscape!
